Peace Park

Peace Park

Located at the hypocenter of the explosion of the atomic bomb that killied 74,000 citizens of Nagasaki and a further 75,000 from radioactively related disease. The park was built to mourn the victims and to pray for the world peace. The Atomic Bomb Museum in the park exhibits photos, videos, documents about the event of the bombing, aiming for the elimination of nuclear armaments.

Glover Garden

Glover Garden

The mansions of a Scottish trader, Thomas Glover who contributed to the Meiji Restoration in the late 19th century through trading arms when Japan succeeded in modernizing. Located on a hill in Minami Yamate, visitors can enjoy panoramic view of Nagasaki Port. Designated as UNESCO world heritage site.

Ohura Catholic Church

Oura Catholic Church

Japan’s oldest standing Christian church built in 1864. Designated as a National Treasure in 1933, first time for the western-style architecture.

Dejima

Dejima

13,000 square meters of fan-shaped man-made island constructed in 1634. The area used to be the residential area of Dutch, the only foreigners who were allowed to trade on the island when the Japanese government had isolation policy until 1854. Historical buildings such as residential houses and warehouses are exhibited.

Megane-bashi Bridge

Megane-bashi Bridge

Literally means “Spectacles Bridge”. An oldest stone bridge in Japan of 22 meters long, originally built in 1634. Designated as important cultural property.
